Happy Father's Day

It's Father's Day today. Mimi had just given me her own custom-made father's card. She will the one who is thoughtful enough to do all this. Be it a Birthday, Mother's Day or whatever there is to celebrate. Probably she picked up from her Mak.

Her 3 abangs only signed on the folded A4 sized paper turned into a card.
Mimi wrote : Ayah Mimi sayang ayah.alau boleh Mimi nak ayah ngan Mimi je!!! Mimi nak ucapkan Happy Father's Day.
Along wrote : Happy Father's day ... Ayah buy Swift sebijik pun ok hehe.
Anggah wrote : Happy Father's day .... I love you!!
Acik wrote : Ayah Acik sayang ayah.

I appreciated what they had wrote for me. It's been 5 months that I have been a father taking care of them without their Mak around. So being a a father now gave a new / different meaning to me. Bigger responsibility, bigger role as a single parent.

Along, Angah and Acik just signed-off the card.

Earlier this afternoon, we celebrated Taha's birthday as well as Taha & Zalma's 12th wedding anniversary. We continued to celebrate Father's Day as well.

Kung Fu Panda - Learn the Morale of the Story

I am not a fan of movie - what more if its a cartoon movie. Did I tell you that I fell asleep during my first movie date with Ky in Kalamazoo, Michigan - way back sometime in 1984. The movie "The Natural" and the actors if I still can remember was Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Glen Close and a few more. It was supposed to a romantic movie but I fell asleep almost throughout the show. What a date? Anyway that is not what I'm going to write. It's about this cartoon movie showing right now at the theater near you - "The Kung fu Panda" hey promo nampak!!!

Anyway Acik was pestering me to go for a movie before the school opens on Monday. As I was never a fan of any movie nor have the patience to queue up for the tickets, I rejected his request. But then again, thinking that I need to be somewhere in TTDI for some Healthpointe program (I write about it later) about the same time after the movie ends, I thought why not I get them to see the movie anyway.

So yesterday I took him and Mimi to One Utama. I picked up Cik Hindun (Ky's sister) from Kota Damansara so that she can tag along. After about 30 mins queuing for the tickets, we got the 11.50am slot for the 4 of us.

What more important is that I didn't fell asleep. In fact I concentrated on the movies as I felt there were so many things to learn from that cartoon characters.

Anyway if you want to know about the plot, please read here.

Po (Panda) who knew he wanted to be somebody but didn't know how to.
But he preservere and became the Dragon Warrior.

But if you want to know what I've learned while watching the movie, please continue reading:

The Plot : Po the Panda knew he wanted to be somebody but he didn't know how to. But he went through the hardship anyway until he was chosen to be the Dragon Warrior.
The Morale of the Story : We may have want or dream something more out of our life but we are not sure of it. We must still continue to search for it and it will come to you one day if you really want it bad enough.

The Plot : Oogway the turtle (the old Master) said something like this : Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is mystery but today is the "Present".
The Morale of the Story : We shouldn't get bogged down with things that happened in our life before. And we don't know what will happen to us in the future. What more important is that we make best use of what we have today as if it a "present" for us.

Shifu and Oogway (the Old Master)

The Plot : When Po opened the Dragon scroll, he didn't find any secret writing in it but only the image of himself. The secret is actually NO SECRET. The secret is actually himself.
The Morale of the Story : Most often than not we try to find what is the best secret to be successful. Only to find out that the secret is actually ourself. If we want to be successful, it has to be us who want to be what we want to be!

The Plot : Initially Po looked down on Shifu (Small Red Panda) until Shifu tested Po and trained him how to be the Kung Fu warrior.
The Morale of the Story : We always look down on people who we thought are smaller than us, less intelligent than us, less educated than us, less qualified, etc. etc. But you know what, these people can be much better than us in many other way. Be humble and people will be willing to help us.

Shifu (The Master) trained Po (The Panda) by using Food as his carrot for training.

The Plot : Po was merely a noodle maker but he was determine to be someone else that he dreamed of. He searched for it and at the end he got what he wanted.
The Morale of the Story : We may have dream of things we want. A better life, a better home, a better person. Keep on dreaming but always have in mind that we must pursue it.

Conclusion :
  1. Have a Dream and identify what we want out of our life.
  2. Listen and Follow the right people who knew better than us.
  3. Preserver and endure the hardship before we get what we dream of.
  4. Never get distracted with your enemy but overcome your fear.
  5. And watch the Movie with an open-mind hehehe...

Lunch at Vivo

Both of us were hungry after the coloring activities. So off we went to find some food at the Curve. Mimi knows Curve better than I do. So we went to search for a place to eat. Mimi suggested that we go for her favourite eating place i.e.1901 hot dogs. On the way there, we saw this place called the "Vivo" and suddenly Mimi changed her mind.

She told me that she had been there a couple of times before. I was quite surprise myself knowing that my daughter had been there and I haven't. Once with her Mak and the other time with Auntie Tihi.

Mimi got her deluxe pepperoni pizza.

I was hungry at that time and whatever she suggested I would go. So she ordered the deluxe pepperoni pizza and I ordered the chicken chop. She ordered juicy fresh drink and I ordered Surprise Splendour - both sound great drinks. Lepas tu Mimi tanya , "Ayah ni air apa ni yah?" Entah lah Mimi. Later I found out that her drink is a mix of watermelon + carrot + orange and mine a mixture of pineapple + orange + apple. Entah lah - minum je lah.

The food was not bad and the drink was ok as well -although we don't know what's the content.

After the lunch and before we left the Curve, there were some promotional thinggy about the Power Rangers. The children were invited to take photograph with one of the Rangers and Mimi willingly went on stage to take her pic.

We left the Curve slightly after 4pm and heading to Kg Tunku. Mimi wanted to send off my sister Kak Chik a.k.a. Mummy to the airport tonight. Kak Chik is flying off to Holland with Azura. Remember Emma - my niece who got married to Dennis the Dutch? Well she is expecting a baby in a week or two. So Kak Chik is excited to be with Emma and to welcome her first grandkid. And Mimi will send her off to KLIA tonight.

Save the Sumatran Rhino

I was reading the NST and saw an ads regarding Honda Malaysia & WWF Malaysia doing some roadshow on "Save The Sumatran Rhino" in Ikano Power Centre at The Curve. So I thought why I register Mimi for a coloring activity that they also organize for children.

So off we went to Ikano this afternoon for the fun of it. After all the boys were at the Motivation Camp in Hulu Langat - and that left me with Mimi. Mimi was also eager to go for it.

Mimi waiting patiently for the event to start.

The event started at 1.00 pm and more than 20 children participated. The organizer invited a special artist from Japan to teach the children how to do coloring using pastel chalk. It was quite interesting to see her showing the kids the technique that was quite easy but with beautiful result. All they have to do is just to use the pastel chalk on their drawing and by using one figure they rub the color and amazing result appears.

Miss Akiba showing some coloring technique.

Although Miss Akiba's English weren't easily understood by the children but luckily someone translated for her. It was fun for the kids to try on with the colors.

Mimi started her work after seeing the method shown by Miss Tamami Akiba.

Mimi chose pastel blue for a start and then added on some yellow and green. It's fun to her drawing using her little finger scratching the colors.

Mimi applying the technique Miss Akiba showed.

The outcome - using the impressive coloring technique.

Since this is not a coloring contest, everyone got some goodies from the sponsors. But more important Mimi enjoyed the fun and learned some new technique for drawing.

Before we left, Mimi was honored to take a pic with Miss Akiba.
